Oh Hi There
I'm Michelle (She/her), the owner and current sole operator of Events On Cue - I'm glad you're here! Events On Cue is an event planning business providing services for offbeat personal events in Long Beach, California and surrounding areas.
This started as a therapy-project turned power-point-party-presentation turned full-fledged business! I have a background managing theatre and live events. I pivoted my career in 2020 to HR due to COVID and disabilities. After multiple tech layoffs it was time to try something different and so, Events On Cue was born!
My Story

I've never been one to go along with traditions or societal expectations. I've been labeled as "too much" or "too loud" my whole life, but I've learned to celebrate what makes me unique.
Born and raised in New Jersey, I thought I would grow up to be an actor. In college I majored in Theatre and transitioned from being onstage to offstage, shifting my focus into Stage Management. After graduation I relocated to Los Angeles, where my Stage Management career blossomed.

In Los Angeles, I pushed myself out of my comfort zone: I worked in themed entertainment, started Project Managing live events, and even earned my union card! Like many, things were looking up for me until 2020.
When COVID hit I was out of work like my peers. I made the difficult decision to retire from my Stage Management career due to lack of work and new invisible disabilities in favor of pursuing a career in corporate Human Resources.
The Journey To Events On Cue

I'm that friend: the one organizing parties and trips. I love a themed-gathering and making new memories. My favorite personal events are:
-
Milestone Birthday-Wedding: I threw myself a wedding where I "married" myself for one of my milestone birthday's. Friends flew in from all over the country to celebrate and send me off on my "honeymoon." I even had a wedding website and registry!
-
Gothic Wedding: In 2024 I actually got married and our wedding was a gothic theme. I wore a black ballgown and my spouse a purple velvet jacket. We had an oracle reader at our reception, and our officiant's were Gomez and Morticia Addams.

During the wedding planning process my partner and I received enthusiastic remarks from vendors like "that's so unique!" or "we've never worked on a wedding like this before." While they were supportive, I found myself wishing we were collaborating with people who shared a similar creative vision and a passion for nontraditional affairs.
Why Start A Business?
From 2020 - 2025 I did the thing:
I established my career in Human Resources with the bravery to start over and the passion to grow into something new. Yet friends, family, and colleagues would ask if I missed Stage Management. I would shrug it off but a part of me yearned to exercise my creativity in a way other than producing pretty paperwork at a corporate desk job.
As unprecedented as COVID was, then came the tech layoffs. I experienced layoffs in 2022, 2023 and shockingly, again in 2024. When a contract ended in 2025, I started to re-evaluate everything. I decided to see what would happen if I freed myself from limiting beliefs that had held me back in the past.
I created Events On Cue to provide custom event planning services for clients with non-traditional events, ensuring they feel seen and heard. I'm excited to celebrate your bold vision and help create memorable experiences for you and your guests!
